Jewish Faces of Russia

A Photography Exhibition by Keith Levit

"With the golf jacket and collared shirt, this man could very well be a Zaida enjoying a coffee at the north end Sals. Fact is, he's a frequent visitor to a JDC-sponsored soup kitchen in Moscow. He was warm, friendly and spoke Yiddish with the precise accent you would expect. Had his ancestors immigrated in the early 1920s like my own family, he could very well be a Winnipegger. It was a humbling experience and felt very close to home."
