In
May of 1999, Keith and Linda Levit were among a group of Winnipeggers
who took a very special trip to Russia and Israel. The mission, sponsored
by UIA Federations Canada, gave visitors the opportunity to see how
contributions to the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg/Combined Jewish Appeal
make a difference in people's lives. They witnessed the excitement and
challenges of immigration and absorption in Israel. They saw how the
world Jewish community is delivering basic needs - not to mention a
sense of community - to the poor and frail. And they saw many exciting
signs of a reviving Jewish life in the Former Soviet Union.
Keith Levit is an accomplished photo artist with an interest in international photography. Some of his photos were recently exhibited at the Manitoba Legislature and he was one of four official Pan-American Games photographers last summer. Some of Keith's photos from the May mission were featured in the Fall, 1999 issue of Community Magazine and many are now being used by Jewish communities across Canada. The exhibit consists of nine photos, all shown in this web-site. To fully appreciate these images, please visit the exhibit at the Asper Jewish Community Campus. |
